How to Use the SpotClean Turbo AutoMate Step-by-Step
Choosing Your Desired Formula
Always use genuine BISSELL formulas in your machine. Using non-approved formulas or additives may damage the machine and void the warranty. The SpotClean Turbo AutoMate is compatible with a range of BISSELL cleaning formulas, depending on your cleaning needs. We recommend starting with the SpotClean Formula Starter Kit or choose from the following:

Filling the Clean Water Tank
Remove the clean water tank from the back of the machine by lifting the carry handle upward. Unscrew the black cap and remove the bottle insert from inside the tank. Then fill the tank with warm tap water up to the water fill line but don’t exceed a water temperature of 60°C. Once filled with water, add around 60mL of BISSELL cleaning formula to the tank. Place the bottle insert back into the tank and securely tighten the black cap before placing the clean water tank back onto the machine.
Prepare the Area Before Cleaning
Before using the SpotClean Turbo AutoMate, vacuum the area thoroughly to remove loose dirt, debris, crumbs and pet hair. This helps improve overall cleaning performance and prevents debris from interfering with suction. For heavily soiled areas or stubborn stains, spray the affected area with a tough stain pretreat formula and allow it to sit for at least three minutes before cleaning.
Attach Your Desired Tool
Release the flex hose by twisting the secure hose latch, then unwrap the power cord from the cable wrap. Plug the machine into a nearby power outlet. Next, choose the appropriate cleaning tool for your cleaning task and attach it firmly to the hose grip until you hear it click into place.

Once attached, press the power switch to turn the machine on.

Hold the cleaning tool slightly above the stained area and press the spray trigger to apply the cleaning solution directly onto the surface. Release the spray trigger and use the tool's bristles to gently scrub the area and loosen embedded dirt and stains. Then, with the trigger released, press the tool firmly against the surface and slowly pull it toward you to suction away dirty water and stains.
Repeat this process as needed until the spot or stain is removed. Heavily soiled surfaces or areas that have not been deep cleaned regularly may require multiple cleaning passes. For best results, allow the cleaned surface to air dry naturally after cleaning.
Using the HydroRinse Self-Cleaning Hose Tool
After cleaning, attach the HydroRinse Hose Tool to the hose grip to help flush and clean the hose interior. With the machine switched on, hold the hose and tool upright and press the trigger continuously for around 30 seconds. This helps remove leftover dirt, debris and cleaning solution from inside the hose. Be sure to empty the dirty water tank after using the HydroRinse Tool.

Emptying the Dirty Water Tank
When the dirty water tank reaches the FULL line, switch the machine off and remove the tank from the machine using the carry handle. Rotate the handle upward and over the back of the tank to unlock the lid and then remove the lid carefully and empty the dirty water into a sink or drain.
Rinse the dirty water tank thoroughly with clean water to remove debris and residue before reinstalling the lid and locking the handle back into position. Before placing the tank back onto the machine, inspect the red filter area and remove any debris buildup if necessary.
Cleaning the Tools
After each use, remove the cleaning tools from the hose grip and rinse them thoroughly under clean running water. Allow all tools to dry completely before reinstalling or storing them on the machine.
Cleaning the Hose

SpotClean Turbo AutoMate is suitable for use on most types of carpet and fabric upholstery. However, we strongly recommend checking the care instructions of your carpet/upholstery first to ensure compatibility, and performing a test patch in a discreet area. We do not recommend using carpet washers on loop-pile/berber carpet, pure or delicate wool, silk, jute, viscose, leather, natural suede, or other materials sensitive to water and agitation.
BISSELL Oxy Boost - do I need to use it?
We recommend adding Oxy Boost to your tank with your formula for best results on old stains, stubborn messes, and lighter-coloured fabrics or carpets.
Can I use my portable or handheld carpet washer as a dry vacuum for hair or debris?
The BISSELL portable and handheld carpet washers are wet spray/extraction machines only. Do not use them for picking up dry debris. You may damage your deep cleaner and void your warranty. It is recommended to vacuum the area with a dry vacuum (where possible) before using your deep cleaner to remove debris and hair. Please refer to the “how to use” section of your User’s Guide for additional details.
How do I clean the hose on my SpotClean?
Simply use the Hydro-Rinse Tool after each use to flush your hose clean before storage (included with select models). The Hydro-Rinse Tool can also be purchased separately on our website.
What is the difference between the BISSELL SpotClean machines?

How long will it take for my carpet to dry?
Drying time varies greatly by the type of carpet or fabric upholstery, the density/thickness of the pile, airflow around the area and the cleaning technique of the user. However, it is best to wait at least two to three hours before walking on the carpet after deep cleaning.
Some of our full-size upright machines include Express Mode, which can have carpets dry in as little as half an hour.
Note: The user is in control of the water output with BISSELL machines. Press the trigger to release water & formula, let go of the trigger to dry. Continuously holding down the trigger is not necessary.
