The Hardfloor Hero: CrossWave HF2

Hard floors are a classic. As the dream for many homeowners, offering the versatility to elevate any home design from contemporary to traditional, they deserve only the best care. The CrossWave HF2 was engineered for excellence and is a premium machine that matches the quality of material that grounds your home, whether that’s timber floorboards, tiles, granite, sealed concrete, vinyl or hybrids.

The CrossWave HF2 vacuums, washes and sanitises hard floors at the same time. Given its simultaneous multi-functionality, you’ll enjoy easier cleaning with the same high standard you can expect across the BISSELL range. Plus, its usability features, like corded usage for maximum performance and self-cleaning cycles, make it one of the most powerful and hassle-free ways to keep your floors clean.

Features of the BISSELL CrossWave HF2

Fundamentally, the BISSELL CrossWave HF2 excels at what it is designed to do – cleaning. With the HF2, you can vacuum, mop and sanitise – removing 99.9% of bacteria – all at the same time, which means you only need to cover each area and room once to get this multi-cleaning benefit.

The CrossWave HF2 features a hard floor brush roll to effectively clean wood, tile, linoleum, laminate and other sealed hard floors. As you’re washing, automatic fluid delivery makes sure you get the perfect amount of formula and water for the best clean without fiddling with any buttons or levers. What’s more, it’s lightweight and its self-propelled steering will help you cover the whole house with ease.

The CrossWave HF2 includes two-tank technology that separates clean and dirty water – it releases the clean solution to your floor, and it mops up the dirty water into the dirty water tank. Finally, when your CrossWave HF2 has worked hard, simply activate its self-cleaning cycle, and it will perform a rinse cycle to flush itself clean and into a ready-to-clean state without you having to do anything.

How to Use and Maintain Your Floor Cleaning Machine: A Step-By-Step Guide

Follow this step-by-step guide to efficiently clean your floors and maintain your machine:

1. Assemble

Once you’ve taken the parts out, insert the handle into the machine until it clicks. Then, insert the clean tank into the back of the machine until it clicks, too.

2. Fill the Formula Tank

Pull the clean water tank out again and unscrew the cap. Fill the tank with warm water to the water line, and then choose your formula and add it to the formula line. Screw the cap back on and place it back into position on the machine.

3. Clean Your Floors

Start by simply pressing the power button to turn the machine on. Recline the machine to start the brush roll spinning. Once it's reclined, fluid will dispense – wait around 10 seconds for the brush roll to become fully wet – and you can wash and vacuum in this mode. Clean the hard floors with a steady forward and backward repetition.

4. Apply Sanitising Formula

Set the machine to HI mode, turn on wet mode and add the Hard Floor Sanitise Formula to sanitise the floors. Wet the floors with back-and-forth motions, making enough passes to keep the floor wet for 5 minutes after you go over them for the sanitiser formula to work effectively. Don’t use the vacuum during this time. Once cleaning is complete, use forward and backward passes to extract the formula from the floors, and repeat as necessary.

5. Emptying the Dirty Water Tank

After cleaning, it’s important to empty the dirty water tank by pressing the button on top of the dirty water tank and pulling it out using the front handle. Then, remove the filter by holding the top of the tank near the filter and pulling up to remove it. Pour the dirty water into a sink and rinse the tank thoroughly before storing it back in the machine.

6. Using the Clean-Out Cycle

After each wash, use the clean-out cycle to keep your machine ready to perform. First, prepare the clean water tank by filling up the water level to the clean-out cycle line. Next, plug the machine in and place it in the storage tray and then press the clean-out cycle button and it will begin.

Choose the CrossWave HF2 For…

The CrossWave HF2 is perfectly suited for families, busy homeowners or renters, pet owners or anyone who needs a quick and effective cleaning solution on their hard floors. Given it can be maneuvered around the house without much effort thanks to its self-steering and lightweight features, it’s also great for elderly people who don't want to deal with bulky and heavy machines. The CrossWave HF2’s multi-functional cleaning operation is also a cost-effective solution for budget-conscious customers, helping you clean thoroughly with one single machine.

BISSELL CrossWave HF2 Care and Maintenance

Like all your household machines, the CrossWave HF2 benefits from some tender loving care to keep it performing at its best for a long lifespan. There are a few things to consider when caring for your CrossWave HF2, along with the typical occasional cleaning you are likely to give your appliances, like wiping down your machine every month or so, you should also perform an after-cleaning care routine after each use.

After Cleaning Care

We recommend performing these steps after each use:

  • Remove the brush roll by pressing the button on the roll and pulling up on the tab to remove the window. Then pull the tab to remove the brush roll.
  • Once removed, let the brush roll dry. If the brush roll window is dirty, wipe away the excess dirt or rinse it to clean.
  • Remove the machine from the tray and wipe excess water or dirt from the tray.
  • Empty the dirty water tank and strainer following the steps outlined in the How to Use section above.
  • Remove the filter from the lid and open the screen. You might discover dirt and grime in here, which you can wipe away.
  • Wash the filter in warm water and mild detergent. You should clean and dry the filter after each use to ensure you clean your floors with a clean filter. You should also replace your filter every 3 months.
  • Rinse the bottom of the tank cover to remove wet debris during the wash.
  • Let all parts air dry for 24 hours or until fully dry before the next use.
  • Reinstall the brush roll by placing the end of the brush into the right side of the roll and pressing the tab of the brush down to lock it into place. Then, reinstall the brush roll window and align tabs on the edges of the foot, pressing the window into place.
  • Reinstall the filter, strainer and tank lid once they’re dry.
  • With the tank, insert the bottom of the tank first and pivot the top toward the machine until it clicks.

CrossWave HF2 FAQs

Can I use CrossWave HF2 as a dry vacuum?

No. CrossWave HF2 automatically vacuums and mops simultaneously, and does not have a vacuum-only mode. The CrossWave model with a dry vacuum option is the CrossWave OmniForce Edge.

Can I use this machine for automatic fluid dispensing?

While this model doesn’t automatically dispense fluid, the CrossWave models without automatic fluid delivery include CrossWave HydroSteam, CrossWave Pet, and CrossWave Max Turbo.

Is CrossWave HF2 cordless?

No. CrossWave HF2 is a corded machine.

What hard floors can I use CrossWave HF2 on?

CrossWave HF2 is suitable for use on all sealed hard floors. If you can use a mop and bucket or spray mop on your floors without issue, it would broadly be safe to assume you can use a CrossWave. CrossWave only releases approximately 1 tablespoon of water per square metre. If unsure, it is recommended to perform a test patch in a discreet area first.

Can I use CrossWave HF2 on carpets or rugs?

No. CrossWave HF2 is for hard floor cleaning only. CrossWave models with Area Rug Mode include CrossWave HydroSteam, CrossWave Pet, CrossWave OmniFind and CrossWave OmniForce Edge.

How often do I need to change my CrossWave filter?

Wash and dry your filter regularly. To maintain the best cleaning performance, we recommend changing the Crosswave filter every 3-4 months. Filters are available at leading electrical retailers and through our website.

How do I remove the handle of my CrossWave HF2?

Remove the clean water tank from your machine. You will then see a round rubber circle. Please press that in with your finger, or a pen, and lift the handle off at the same time.

How do I clean my BISSELL CrossWave brush roll?

You can clean the Crosswave brush roll by activating the automatic Self-Clean Cycle while docking in the supplied tray. Your brush may also be cleaned by hand by removing it from the machine and squeezing it while under running water. Please refer to your User Guide for thorough instructions on cleaning your CrossWave brush roll.

Why is the clean tank of my CrossWave leaking or not sitting in the machine properly?

Ensure you are only putting lukewarm tap water (not hot or boiling) in the tank along with a CrossWave-compatible formula. Failing to do so can warp your tank and erode the tank seals. If you need a new tank, you can order it from the BISSELL website.

What is the difference between the CrossWave models?

The functions, including accessories, warranty, suction motor strength, and other features, can differ between models. To find the right machine for you, use our website's compare function to compare up to three products at a time. Look for the 'Compare' or 'Compare this product' buttons.

What makes CrossWave different to other hard floor cleaners on the market?

BISSELL invented and released the CrossWave multi-surface hard floor washer in 2016, meaning we're the most experienced brand in this category of cleaner. CrossWave is the first of its kind to truly vacuum, wash, and sanitise hard floors at the same time. Select CrossWave models can even refresh area rugs and low-pile carpets, making them a true multi-surface cleaning system. Imitators from other brands tend to just sweep the floor, are generally limited to cleaning hard floors only, do not feature BISSELL's patented tangle-free brush roll, and do not sanitise. We're so confident you will love your CrossWave that we offer a 60-Day Money Back Guarantee with select models.
