Product Guide: BISSELL CrossWave HF3 Cordless

BISSELL CrossWave HF3 Cordless

Why should cleaning your floors require a bunch of separate equipment and steps? It’s one of the most dreaded tasks in home cleaning. But it doesn’t have to be this painful.

The BISSELL CrossWave HF3 Cordless hard floor wet dry vacuum and mop is your all-in-one solution for effortlessly cleaning sealed hard floors. It saves you time by combining vacuuming and washing in one powerful step – no switching tools, no buckets, no hassle. With automatic formula dispensing, quiet cordless operation and a self-cleaning cycle, it's one of BISSELL’s most advanced, lightweight and user-friendly CrossWave floor washers yet.

The CrossWave HF3 makes light and convenient work of all your floor cleaning tasks, from cleaning up sticky kitchen spills or everyday dust around the house, leaving your floors visibly clean, sanitised and residue-free in minutes.

Key Features of the CrossWave HF3 Cordless

The BISSELL CrossWave HF3 Cordless is a powerful, all-in-one cleaning solution designed to simplify and elevate your floor care routine. With the ability to vacuum, wash and sanitise at the same time, it dramatically reduces the time and effort needed to maintain spotless floors. When paired with BISSELL’s Hard Floor Sanitise formula, it effectively kills up to 99.9% of bacteria on sealed surfaces, leaving your home not just clean, but hygienic too.

One of its standout features is automatic formula dispensing, requiring no trigger and no guesswork. The CrossWave HF3 intelligently releases the perfect amount of cleaning solution for every clean, ensuring you're never using too much or too little. This means more consistent results and less waste with every use.

The machine’s two-tank technology, common in the whole CrossWave range, is another smart addition, keeping clean and dirty water completely separate. You’ll always be cleaning your floors with a fresh mix of water and solution (no more pushing dirty mop water around!). When you're finished, the built-in self-cleaning cycle makes maintenance effortless. With just the press of a button, the brush roll and internal lines are flushed clean, so your machine stays fresh and ready for the next use.

Best of all, the CrossWave HF3 is cordless, quiet and lightweight. It provides up to 25 minutes of run time on a single charge and features self-propelled steering, making it incredibly easy to manoeuvre around furniture, corners, stairs and tight spaces. Whether you’re doing a quick clean-up or a full house refresh, the CrossWave HF3 Cordless makes it easier than ever to keep your floors sparkling and win the fight against indoor allergens.

How to Use the CrossWave HF3 Cordless

Step 1: Assembly & Charging the Battery

To begin, insert the handle of your CrossWave HF3 Cordless into the main body of the machine until it clicks securely into place. Set up the charging dock by plugging the adapter into the dock, then into a wall outlet. Keep an eye on the battery indicator lights: a flashing blue segment indicates a low battery, while a flashing battery bar means the unit is charging.

Once all battery lights are solid blue, the machine is fully charged. Allow up to four hours for a full charge, which provides up to 25 minutes of cordless cleaning runtime. For best performance, fully charge the unit before first use.

Step 2: Fill the Clean Water Tank

Before cleaning, make sure to use only BISSELL-approved cleaning formulas – never substitute with other floor cleaners, bleach or boiling water. Check out the BISSELL formula guide for the full breakdown and application of cleaning solutions.

To fill the tank, press the clean water tank release button and pull the tank forward to remove it. Open the rubber flap and fill with warm tap water (not exceeding 60°C) up to the indicated water fill line. Then add BISSELL Hard Floor or Hard Floor Sanitise formula to the formula fill line. Close the flap securely and reinsert the tank by aligning the bottom first and then pressing the top in until it clicks into place.

Step 3: Clean Your Floors

To start cleaning, recline the machine (note that the power button only works when the unit is reclined). Press the Power button to turn it on and choose your cleaning mode: use LO mode for everyday messes and HI mode for stubborn dirt or when sanitising. As you move the machine forward and backward, it automatically dispenses solution and vacuums at the same time, delivering a thorough, efficient clean.

If the dirty water tank is full or not installed properly, a red light will flash as an alert. When you're done, return the unit to an upright position and press the Power button again to turn it off.

Sanitising with Hard Floor Sanitise Formula

To sanitise properly, always follow the product label instructions and use only on sealed, nonporous floors – most home floors are sealed, so you shouldn't have to worry about this unless you have unfinished hardwood floors or some types of laminate and vinyl. You can always perform a patch test on a section of your floor if you’re unsure.

Start by removing any visible debris from the floor. Set the machine to HI mode and make multiple slow passes to thoroughly wet the floor surface. Ensure the floor remains visibly wet for at least five minutes to achieve effective sanitisation. Once that’s complete, continue with forward and backward passes in LO mode to extract any remaining solution and leave your floors clean and sanitised.

The CrossWave HF3 Cordless is Perfect For…

Designed with convenience and performance in mind, the CrossWave HF3 Cordless is ideal for busy households that need quick, efficient floor cleaning every day. It’s especially handy for pet owners who regularly deal with muddy paw prints, fur or accidental spills, helping you live harmoniously, having pets and a clean home at the same time. It’s also the perfect cleaning machine for apartment dwellers, where space constraints mean multiple cleaning tools just for your floor are unsuitable.

Whip it out to quickly tidy up after a busy morning, Sunday afternoon after a packed weekend or just before your guests arrive for dinner – it never asks for much effort to deliver visibly clean, sanitised floors in a fraction of the time. And if you're someone who wants powerful results without the hassle of cords, buckets or complicated setups, this lightweight, all-in-one tool offers a low-effort, high-performance cleaning experience you can count on.

Care & Maintenance for the CrossWave HF3

Proper care and ongoing maintenance help keep your CrossWave HF3 Cordless running at its best, meaning it’s always ready to restore your floors. With just a few simple steps after each use, you can ensure your machine is clean, dry and ready for its next job.

Self-Cleaning Cycle

To begin the self-cleaning cycle, place the machine on its docking tray. Make sure the clean water tank contains solution and the dirty water tank is empty. Press the Self-Cleaning button on the dock; the light will pulse while the cycle runs. This process flushes out the brush roll and internal fluid lines for hygienic storage. Once complete, you’ll need to remove the brush roll and clean it manually (details below).

After-Cleaning Care

Start by removing the dirty water tank. Press the release button on top of the tank, then use the front handle to pull the tank out. To empty, grip the top near the sides of the filter and pull up. Use the clean-out brush to strain debris while pouring the dirty water into a utility sink or suitable waste receptacle. Dispose of the debris in the trash and rinse the tank thoroughly.

Next, remove the pleated filter by pulling it up from the top of the tank. Wash the filter with warm water and mild detergent, and rinse the bottom of the tank cover. It’s important to allow the filter to dry completely before reinstalling.

For brush roll maintenance, start by removing the brush roll cover. Pull the tab to release the brush roll, then use the black tab to remove the brush roll filter located behind it. Hand wash the brush roll, window and filter using warm water. For best results, scrub the parts with the included cleaning tool. You can also use the hook on the tool to remove any tangled debris from the brush roll.

Don’t forget to clean the docking tray as well. Remove the machine from the dock and wipe the tray clean. All components, including the brush roll, filter and tanks, should be left out to dry completely for at least 24 hours before reassembling.

Once everything is dry, reinstall the brush roll by placing one end into the left side of the foot and pressing the tab down until it clicks into place. Reattach the brush roll window by aligning it with the foot and pressing it down until it locks. Reassemble the dry, dirty water tank by inserting the bottom first, then pushing the top in until it clicks securely.

With these simple care steps, your CrossWave HF3 will stay clean, fresh and ready for reliable performance every time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use CrossWave HF3 as a dry vacuum?

No. CrossWave HF3 automatically vacuums and mops simultaneously, and does not have a vacuum-only mode. CrossWave models without automatic fluid delivery include CrossWave HydroSteam and CrossWave Pet.

Can I use CrossWave HF3 on carpets or rugs?

No. CrossWave HF3 is for hard floor cleaning only. CrossWave models with Area Rug Mode include CrossWave HydroSteam and CrossWave Pet.

How do I remove the handle of my CrossWave HF3?

Remove the clean water tank from your machine. You will then see a round rubber circle. Please press that in with your finger, or a pen, and lift the handle off at the same time.

How do I clean my BISSELL CrossWave brush roll?

You can clean the Crosswave brush roll by activating the automatic Self-Clean Cycle while docked on the charging base.

Your brush may also be cleaned by hand by removing it from the machine and squeezing it while under running water.

Please refer to your User Guide for thorough instructions on cleaning your CrossWave brush roll.

Why is the clean tank of my CrossWave leaking or not sitting in the machine properly?

Ensure you are only putting lukewarm tap water (not hot or boiling) in the tank along with CrossWave compatible formula. Failing to do so can warp your tank and erode the tank seals. If you need a new tank, you can order it from the BISSELL website.

How often do I need to change my CrossWave filter?

To maintain the best cleaning performance, we recommend changing the CrossWave filter every 3-4 months. Filters are available at leading electrical retailers and through our website.

What is the difference between the CrossWave models?

The functions, including accessories, warranty, suction motor strength, and other features, can differ between models. To find the right machine for you, use our website's compare function to compare up to three products at a time. Look for the 'Compare' or 'Compare this product' buttons.

What makes CrossWave different from other hard floor cleaners on the market?

BISSELL invented and released the CrossWave multi-surface hard floor washer in 2016, meaning we're the most experienced brand in this category of cleaner. CrossWave is the first of its kind to truly vacuum, wash, and sanitise hard floors at the same time.

Select CrossWave models can even refresh area rugs and low-pile carpets, making them a true multi-surface cleaning system. Imitators from other brands tend to just sweep the floor, are generally limited to cleaning hard floors only, do not feature BISSELL's patented tangle-free brush roll, and do not sanitise. We're so confident you will love your CrossWave, we offer a 60-Day Money Back Guarantee with select models.
