Step-by-Step Guide to Using SpotClean Turbo

The SpotClean Turbo has the ability and user-friendly design to tackle spots and stains, wherever they’re located with a range of tools that serve different purposes. Follow this guide below to learn how to use it effectively.

1. Fill the Formula Tank

Once assembled, it’s time to choose your formula from BISSELL’s formula guide and add BISSELL’s Oxy Boost to form a solution. Fill the tank with this solution by lifting the carry handle. Flip the cap open and add water to the line based on the size of your mess. For a small area, you should fill around 800 ml and 1200 ml for a large area.  Now, add a formula to the line, again based on the size of your mess. For a small area, add 180 mL and 230 mL for a large area. Then, tighten the cap back into place and return the clean tank to the machine.

2. Pretreat the Spill or Stain & Vacuum

Before you begin cleaning, vacuum to remove loose dirt from areas to be cleaned. Pretreat the area by applying a BISSELL Pretreat Spray, and let it soak into the spot for at least 15 minutes before using the machine.

3. Clean with SpotClean Turbo

To use the SpotClean Turbo, unwrap the hose by pulling it from the hose clip and attaching your preferred tool to the end of the grip. Unwrap the power cord by twisting the quick-release cord wrap and plug it into an outlet, and then press the power switch to ON. While holding the attached tool just above the spill or stain, hold the trigger to release mist solution over the area, then release the trigger and gently scrub the area using the bristles.

Next, apply a firm downward pressure with the tool, starting from the back of the stain and pulling toward you. Release the trigger and go over the stain with continuous dry passes to remove the moisture – repeat this as needed to remove the stain and moisture.

Apply the same steps when using the 6 inch Tool and the Spraying Crevice Tool.

Using the 3-in-1 Stair Tool

For stairs and tight corners, the 3-in-1 tool can be used in three ways:

  1. The flat edge is used to clean the stair tread

  2. The indented edge is used to clean the outside corner of stairs

  3. The pointed edge is used to clean the crevice.

Once the tool is attached to the hose clip, twist it to the desired position (the downward-facing edge is the active cleaning mode). Point the tool about 3 cm above the spot or stain and hold the trigger to spray the solution. Release the trigger and suction up the stain by moving the tool over the carpet slowly, moving backwards.

4. Let Area Dry Naturally & Repeat Step 4 if Necessary

Once you’ve cleaned the spot or stain, leave the area to air dry naturally. If you still see some remnants of the stain, repeat the cleaning process in step 4 as needed to completely remove the mark. In some cases, multiple rounds may be needed on areas that have not been deep cleaned regularly before or for particularly stubborn stains.

BISSELL SpotClean Turbo Care and Maintenance

The BISSELL SpotClean Turbo is a machine packed with powerful features that will help you care for your carpets for many years to come with a little care and maintenance. Along with occasionally wiping down the machine for debris that has built up over time, follow these cleaning steps after cleaning or when relevant:

Cleaning the Machine with the Self-Cleaning Tough Stain Tool

When you use the Self-Cleaning Tough Stain Tool, there’s a self-cleaning function that only requires you to activate it in order to give it a cleanout. First, turn the machine ON and slide the tool lever down for CLEANOUT mode. Then, press the trigger to activate the CLEANOUT function – the solution mixture will spray through the tool and hose.

Emptying the Dirty Water Tank

When the dirty water sucked up by the machine reaches the MAX line, it’s time to empty the tank. Do this by removing the dirty water tank and carrying it to a water disposal area. To remove the lid, hold the bottom of the dirty water tank and use the handle inset to lift it up and off. Then simply pour out the dirty water and rinse the tank to remove any debris. You can then align the lid with the bottom of the tank and press down until secure, placing the dirty water tank back into position once emptied.

After Cleaning Care

After each time you use the machine for cleaning, be sure to give it an after-cleaning wash. First, empty the dirty water tank after use (see above). Then, disconnect the tools by pushing down on the button above the hose grip and pulling it straight off, being careful not to twist. Remove the tool lens and rinse it under clean, running water and allow it to dry before reinstalling. Wrap the hose around the machine and pull the cord into its storage before storing the whole machine somewhere indoors in a secure, dry location.

SpotClean Turbo FAQs

Can the SpotClean Turbo clean entire rooms of carpet?

Portable spot cleaners, such as the SpotClean range, are designed to clean small spots and everyday messes such as spills and localised spots across carpets, rugs and upholstery.

For cleaning whole homes with rooms of carpet and upholstery, we recommend you consider one of our full-size upright machines.

What types of surfaces can the SpotClean Turbo be used on?

The SpotClean Turbo is suitable for use on most types of carpet and fabric upholstery. However, we strongly recommend checking the care instructions of your carpet/upholstery first to ensure compatibility, and performing a test patch in a discreet area. We do not recommend using carpet washers on loop-pile/berber carpet, pure or delicate wool, silk, jute, viscose, leather, natural suede, or other materials sensitive to water and agitation.

Can I use my portable or handheld carpet washer as a dry vacuum?

The BISSELL portable and handheld carpet washer are wet spray/extraction machines only. Do not use them for picking up dry debris. You may damage your deep cleaner and void your warranty. It is recommended to vacuum the area with a dry vacuum (where possible) before using your deep cleaner to remove debris and hair. Please refer to the “how to use” section of your User’s Guide for additional details.

How long will it take for my carpet or upholstery to dry?

Drying time varies greatly by the type of carpet or fabric upholstery, the density/thickness of the pile, the airflow around the area, and the cleaning technique of the user. However, it is best to wait at least two to three hours before walking on the carpet or sitting on a sofa after deep cleaning.

Some of our full-size upright machines include Express Mode, which can have carpets dry in as little as half an hour.

Note: The user is entirely in control of the water output with BISSELL machines. Press the trigger to release water & formula, let go of the trigger to dry.

Which BISSELL formulas do I use in my SpotClean Turbo?

BISSELL SpotClean Turbo is compatible with any of the low-foaming BISSELL formulas labelled for use in portable machines. Refer to your User Guide for more information. Simply shop compatible formulas through our website.

How do I clean the hose on my SpotClean Turbo?

Simply use the supplied 4" Self-Cleaning Tough Stain Tool in the cleaning mode after each use to flush your hose clean before storage.

What is the difference between the BISSELL SpotClean machines?

The included attachments, warranty, suction motor strength, hose length, and other features can differ between models. To find the right machine for you, use our website's compare function to compare up to three products at a time. Look for the 'Compare' or 'Compare this product' buttons.

What is the BISSELL Pretreat Spray used for?

Pretreating is the first step in deep cleaning your carpets or fabric upholstery. For best results, particularly on set-in stains, use the pretreatment spray at least 15 minutes prior to using the machine. Pretreating beforehand loosens and mobilises embedded dirt, stains, and odours, allowing for optimal cleaning results.

What is BISSELL Oxy Boost used for?

We recommend adding Oxy Boost to your tank with your formula for best results on old stains, stubborn messes, and lighter-coloured fabrics or carpets.
